Newton Run - Actual Day
Basically i ran for an hour, and started walkin as my left knee and ankle are in pain.. I walked for an hour and the 3rd hour my calf muscles cramped and i had to walk and drag my legs for anothr 1 hour and 50 mins..
I used 3 hours and 50 minutes to finish 25km of ultra hilly roads.. No wonder they call it Newton Challenge, it's against gravity! Rested for the whole sunday before i get to continue my studies for my last paper of the year..
Although it was a bad timing, stil thank God that i finished it and managed to get a finisher T. And that is my last run of the year. This year has been a fantastic year with lots of running wit lots of frns.. But kinda regretted cos this year i dint train enuf.. Shall rest for a few months and continue running..

SCKLIM 2010 - Preview
Recalling last year's event, it was organised by Octagon or famously known as Otak-gone for their poor event organising which messed up the marathon! This year i'm glad that they are not one of the organisers. Although the main organiser was replaced, this year shirt collection din't went as smooth as expected. Here's the story:
On thursday, which was the first day of shirt collection, Shane, Darren and I went to Titiwangsa Stadium to collect the shirts/vest for all of our frns. The first impression was great, we walked in to the air-cond indoor Titiwangsa Stadium. The shirt collection was divided according to categories and there was one section for bulk collection, which was abv 6 shirts. We decided to queue there since we needed to collect for ard 12. We waited, standing in the queue for an hour and yet the queue was stil very long.
We noticed that the 10km line is actually 100 times faster than ours, so we moved on to 10km collection. In a short while, it was our turns. To my suprise, out of the 12 participants i registered, only 2 shirts were successfully collected! 2 out of 12! They said our registration was incomplete and we had to queue up at information counter. I look to the counter, oh my, there was ard 30 ppl queuing up there. Since we had time, we decided to take turns and wait in line.

It took us around an hour for our turns, and the problem was: our registration was incomplete. Why? Something wrong with their system when i registered and ended up payment made but registration incomplete. The best part is, i was not the only one, most of them who registered online ended up with this problem, that is why the queue was long. At the end of the day, it took us 2 hours plus to collect all the shirts! Haih..
Although thursday was a disaster, today i went again with Keane and i spotted a few changes. As thursday, we walked to the 10km section, and the same problem happened. But this time, they asked us to wait at a side and they settle the problem instantly, the shirt was collected in not more than 5 minutes! Kudos to them for efficient work.
Btw, i have not trained for ages, hopefully i can finish on time 2moro. Haha.. God bless and take care to all runners!

Energizer Night Race 2010 Malaysia - Actual Day
The journey got easier when we were in Cyberjaya, thanks to a map by Benny. We were able to locate and park our car at P2. Half an hour later, Shane is here at P2 and we took a shuttle bus from P2 to the starting line. It was ard 7pm.
We collected our head lights, met up with Hon Sern and Cheu Chyong, went toilet, check in our bags, took some pictures and off to the starting line. It was very confusing at 1st, we were not sure where was starting line, finish line and othr stations as there were no signboards for it.
We eaten the free energy bar, drank some water, did some warm up and started our 10km Energizer NightRace!! Shakelingam!

Energizer Night Race 2010 Malaysia - Preview 2
It's been 1 month since my last energizer post and guess what!? In this period of time, I ran only 3 times! Yes! Only 3!!!! Lazy me..
For all the 3 times i recorded my lap timing and my total timing to get a clearer view of my pace..
Based on the timing, there should be no problem for me to finish within the qualifying time of 1 hour 30minutes. But as above, the most i ran was only 5km!!! And it was a difficult run, due to lack of fitness. Haih..
For the coming few days i will jog a little but definitely won't jog more than 5km as i would like to save my energy for the real run and to avoid injuries. Hope my strategy pays off..
Alrite, time to go off. Shall post the pictures of race kit in a few days time..
For now, i shall say

Energizer Night Race 2010 Malaysia - Preview 1

I believe this is the first Energizer Night Race in Malaysia as I have not heard about it before. I have heard of other night runs such as Men's Health Run but not Energizer so I googled and found this website:
http://www.energizernightrace.com.my/
It's a simple website about Energizer Night Race 2010 Malaysia, giving out event details such as location, categories, age group, qualifying time and so on. After browsing through the site, I'm interested in joining the 10km run with qualifying time of 1 hour 30 minutes which should be no problem for me.

Adidas KOTR 2009
Dis morning, kok eon, siow and i met up wif Benny and frns and started our journey to Shah Alam Stadium.. It took us ard 10min 2 reach thr, which is ard 10km from my home, USJ 2..
By the time we reach, it's ard 6.30am and many ppl were already thr.. We found our parking spot, did our warm up, drank water, etc..
By 7.00am sharp, the race started! If i'm not mistaken, i heard the announcer saying that there's 3000 participants in our category.. 350 medals over 3000 participants.. Of cos I have a chance!
Ard 7.20am, i was starting 2 feel the pain on my right knee, but i kept running, ignoring the pain.. Although i can continue my running, my speed was kinda slow as i saw my frn who ran and stopped and keep up wif my pace..
Ard 7.50am, dis was the time when i started to feel tired, pain.. 50min of running, i shd have completed ard 9 or 10km.. I kept thinkin that way, but i've forgotten that i was running really slow..
Ard 8.00am, 1 hour already! Was wondering why i hvn reach the finish line, starting to feel like giving up, but i feel i stil have a chance on the medal, although the qualifying time is 50min which already passed.. I started to run faster, but i stil cant catch up wif my frn who all the way running close to me..
Ard 8.13am, i saw Ah Siow was already there cheering 4 me as i crossed the finish line.. Hurray! I crossed it and stopped! Guess wat!? Instantly, i feel the pain in both my knees.. I tot it was only my right knees but it's both my knees..
I got my cert and went to greed Ah Siow.. He managed to finish it in ard 50min, kudos to him! Oh yeah! Where's my medal!? No more medal 4me.. Feel kinda disappointed but i was thinkin: those got medal surely a lot more faster den me lo.. Mana tau, i saw 2 frns which finished ard 1 o 2min ahead of me got a medal! ARRRR!!!!!!!!!!!! Sayangnya!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wanna go mad d! Jus a whisker away from a medal.. GERAM!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway, i'm ok wif it now.. I promised myself that i'll get a medal on nex KOTR! But 1st, i shall rest my knees which had been faithful 2me, helpin me 2 run so many races.. So, rest my knees, train later and nex time, superman will be running again.. Yup, running, not flying.. Hope i'm not lame.. Haha..
Cheers ;) Btw, congrats to Ah Siow and Alfred who got medal and Benny, Kenny, Kok Eon and others who completed the run!
Stay SHAKELINGAM!!!™
God Bless..

Standard Chartered Kuala Lumpur Marathon 2009
I think i did badly in this marathon.. The total distance was 42.195km but i ran only half, the rest i walked!
The main reason?
Muscle cramp! This is very common when running a full marathon, that is the reason why there are water stations and medical assistance along the route. Main purpose is to prevent runners from dehydrated and prevent muscle cramp (by applying plenty of heat rub).
I ran about 20km and started to feel my muscles pulling.. Was hoping to drink some water and put some heat rub, but, there was NO water and NO heat rub at 20-30km mark. What a suprise! The organiser (Octagon or better known as Otak-Gone) promised the runners water stations every 2.5km after the first 3km (written in the booklet), but there was NOT ENOUGH water in the race day! This is a very dangerous thing to happen, the runners like me need plenty of water after running for 20km, we need water to prevent dehydration, which may lead to muscle cramp or maybe pengsan!?
The other reasons?
Poor organising by Otak-Gone. There are many funny things to be laughed at throughout the whole marathon..
1st - NO water and NO heat rub at 20-30km mark. This is simply amazing! The organisers said they provided 50000 litres of water but i think wat happened is... 25000 litres for runners, 25000 litres for organisers? Haha..
2nd - Bad route.. There was a part where runners run through the city centre.. There is nothin wrong about that but there were many cars (they shd hd block the traffic!), and the route was very confusing.. At 1 point, i almost went to the wrong route but thank God i u-turned, and i found 2 policemen standing and chatting, not doing their job of controlling traffic and guiding the runners..
3rd - Inexperient volunteers.. It's very obvious that the volunteers are part-timers which were hired from some agency.. They don't really care much about the runners, they lack of passion! At 30km mark, i ran passed 2 volunteers, they were sleeping! I can't imagine what's more tiring then running a marathon! Besides that, my frn, Cheu Chyong muscle cramped at 28km mark, he asked the 1st aid ppl to help him stretch his leg but to his suprise, the ppl asked him: "Do u wanna give up?" Funny stuff!
4th - Lack of supporters.. Along the route, i did not see many supporters, just a few.. We need support! I need it too.. If there were ppl cheering along, i think most of us will improve our run..
5th - Low quality stuff.. The design of the finisher-T looks very normal to me, i expected somethin nice, something catchy like Singapore Marathon but it was no match.. The designs of the finisher-T and medal are ugly, and the quality are poor.. The quality of the shirt is cheap stuff, maybe it only cost them RM10 to get that shirt..

Ok, those are the critism i have.. I can't bliv i'm doing this, critising (i'm not used to it)..
Although it was a badly organised event, but i'm still grateful to have finished the run without any serious injuries.. Besides that, i found out that there are many kind hearted ppl around us, especially during the run.. Some went to convenient store to buy drinks for us, some runners willing to share their water and heat spray wif each other and i'm glad that i met those during the marathon..
Lastly, i'll still say this...

Standard Chartered Kuala Lumpur Marathon 2009 - The Preview
Date : 27th of June, 2009
Time : 5.00am
Distance : 42.195km
Time limit : 6 hours
Next sunday, I'll be running my 2nd full marathon and my 2nd race of the year.
My 1st marathon was last year december which was Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon 2008. It was once in a life time experience. 42.195km! I do feel like superman after the race. Know y? Cos i barely can feel my feet, as though I'm flying. Haha.
This time, I'll be running my 2nd full marathon of my life! I've to prepare myself, not only physically, but also mentally.
Physically: running, jogging, working out in gym, sleep.
Mentally: relax, sleep, pray, and watch this video:
It's a route tour of SCKLM 2009, watching this will get me into the mood of running.. Haha..
That is it! Hope i can do well in the marathon..
I shall end this post with a bible verse, which gave me an impact during my Singapore Marathon, it is this:

New Balance Pacesetters 15km 2009
Did i get a medal? Did i finish on time? Wat was my placing?
6.20am - I reach Lake Garden, found a place 2 park my car then went straight to the gather place.. I've 2 admit that the scenery, the atmosphere was totally different from yesterday's.. As i walk towards the gather place, i saw so many participants that look very professional.. Some very tall, some very dark skin (they run frequently?), some mat salleh (mat salleh always look very pro), some negro (no need to say la k? they make running seems so easy), some very muscular (from army?).. Haih.. It does affects my self confidence after i saw so many runners.. Never mind, i did wat i did, i trained wat i trained, let's just go ahead n run the race..
6.40am - I said a prayer, asking Lord Jesus to give me strength and protect me from any injuries during the run..
6.50am - I prayed again.. Maybe cos i'm kinda nervous..
7.02am - The race officially started and everyone cheers as they start the run.. I have to admit that during the start of the race, i was the one chasing them.. Basically, wat i did was trying to keep up the pace and run with them cos they were running quite fast..
7.25am - Run with their pace for 20minutes, starting to get a bit tired, then i saw a sign - 4km.. Yay! I ran 4km in 23 minutes, for me it's kinda good, i just have 2 run with this pace and i might run faster then 1 hour 30minutes for 15km..
7.37am - 6km sign appeared right in front of me.. Ok! Shakelingam! Keep up! Gambateh!
7.50am - I ran around 8km.. We were running up a hill (Bukit Tunku area), the road starting to become more difficult.. I was struggling as i ran up the hill, then i saw the 1st ever female runner that overtook me.. Wow! they started 15 minutes later then male runners but the 1 managed to run passed me.. Guess wat's written behind her vest!? POWERED BY JESUS! Inspirational!
8.17am - 12km gone! Woohoo! 3 more 3 more.. My muscles were burning and my pace became slower, but i kept running and praying..
8.37am - This is the time when i crossed the finish line.. Yes! I finished the race in 1 hour 35minutes, slightly better then the qualifying time of 1 hour 40minutes.. Thank God! I went to collect my most awaited medal and some goodies.. After having some free Milo and Yakult, i went home, took bath and went to church.. Hehe..
Well, i can conclude that this race was not easy.. Have to thank all the other runners that run faster then me as i kept chasing them and improve my pace.. Thank God for bringing me home safely without injuring myself and managed to get a medal.. Finally, thanks to all shakelingam frns who supported me.. Next race? KL marathon! Let us run together!
